Shades of pink and gold tablecloths on the rooftop of the old Redmont Hotel all add up to a beautiful evening. Kelly and Jim’s nuptials initially took place in Italy earlier this year and we helped them celebrate back home in Birmingham. Here are a few words from the bride about the night…
Please tell us a little about your story / how you meet / etc.
We met through our respective jobs not long after I had left my old law firm and opened up a small firm. Our firm represented the bank on a loan for a building Jim and his partner were buying in Alabama. He lived in Florida at the time. We didn’t start dating for awhile but stayed in touch on work related things. He later moved to Alabama to work on the Redmont redevelopment and….
What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail?
We got married just us on the island of Capri in Italy so I wanted to have a big festive weekend here with friends and family. I knew I wanted it black tie with a small seated dinner for just immediate family beforehand and a fun brunch the next day. When we first met we had talked about the Redmont Hotel (his work) and having a rooftop bar there etc. There is now a rooftop so we wanted to have a party up there. The weather turned out absolutely perfect so being able to celebrate under the stars was probably my favorite. That and the mermaid we had in the pool at our Friday night gathering at our home.
What was your favorite part of the planning?
Dress shopping! I went non traditional since I was married before and found a beautiful evening gown. Seriously though Neillie, Chelsea and their team made it so easy – their services are really invaluable. Planning the dinner details and the events of the roof with the Redmont’s staff was also fun.
What was your most memorable part of the day?
That’s hard to pick. I loved doing hair and makeup with friends on the mezzanine and having a fun brunch there. Jim singing with the band was pretty memorable as well. Just seeing everyone all dressed up and the combination of all the planning coming together, the beautiful flowers and tablescape etc was just the best – still makes me smile looking back on it.
