Mariée Ami Weddings: Lauren & Reese

It was such a joy to work with Lauren on her February wedding last month! Leslie Hollingsworth captured the day magnificantly and we are thrilled to share this beauty on the blog today! Cheers to Lauren and Reese! A few words from the bride…

Please tell us a little about your story / how you meet / etc.
Reese and I first met while at The University Alabama but we were just acquaintances during that time. I’ve lived in Birmingham since 2004 but Reese lived in various cities until he landed in Birmingham almost 4 years ago. About 3 years ago we were both out to eat with separate groups of friends at Saws Juke Joint and we reconnected. We bonded over talking about 2 dogs that I was about to rescue and the rest is history!

What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail?
This is where Neillie and her team were the biggest help!! I’m indecisive and never had a distinct vision for my wedding. And I decided not to involve any other family members in the planning process because I didn’t want too many opinions involved. So I let the expert do her thing! Neillie asked me a lot of questions about colors and things I like/don’t like, which really helped me narrow down my vision. I showed her a bouquet that I loved and had saved on Pinterest. The bouquet had beautiful shades of blush, peach, plum, and green. My dress was also blush and modern. So my vision came down to modern and elegant.

My favorite detail was the ghost chairs and linens that we rented. Even my Dad mentioned that he absolutely loved the look of the linens and ghost chairs : ) This was Neillie’s idea and I loved it!! It really tied everything together and made the reception room modern yet elegant, which is exactly what I wanted!!

I also LOVED our LR monogram that Mary V. helped with. I wanted something clean and a little masculine, since there was a groom involved!! It was perfect! I had so many compliments on our paper suite!! And, because Reese and I adore our dogs, Mary V. had a vendor make us the cutest dog cookies EVER for our welcome boxes.

What was your favorite part of the planning?
I knew Neillie and Mary V in college so it was fun catching up and laughing with them!
And I just loved not having to worry about anything!  I was terrified of the wedding planning process but Mariée Ami took care of all the details so I could enjoy my engagement time and wedding day!

What was your most memorable part of the day?
So many memorable parts of the day – it’s hard to chose! The first look was so special! And, I cherished every moment of our wedding ceremony at Canterbury UMC because it was so personal… but we both loved celebrating at the reception! It was magical – great band, food, drinks, and light up tambourines! The perfect atmosphere to celebrate with our friends and family!
