There’s so much to love about this autumn Alabama wedding! Carithers was a dream client and we loved planning every detail! A few words from the bride…
Please tell us a little about your story / how you meet / etc.
Zac and I met through work… but it isn’t as scandalous as it sounds! Zac and I both work for a large consulting firm in Washington, DC and spent a few weeks on the same project back in the fall of 2011. When I first joined the project, Zac asked the project lead if he could be my “on-boarding buddy” as an excuse to get to know me. And the rest is history! Or almost. Two years later, after developing a strong friendship, we finally got the timing right and decided to start dating. Two years after that, Zac proposed in Williamsburg, VA, with both of our families present to celebrate. And NOW the rest is history!
What was your vision for your wedding? Favorite detail?
My vision for the wedding was warm, autumnal elegance with a touch of masculine flair (there is a groom to consider in all of this, after all!). We were having a fairly traditional wedding in terms of the marriage ceremony, venue, etc., so we chose to go in a more non-traditional direction for some of the decor and flair. One of my more obvious favorite details was our flowers (thanks to the amazing Holly Carlisle and her talented crew at Rosegolden flowers!), which had beautiful golden tones and pops of peach and burgundy. I also loved the way Mary and Caroline crafted our merchandise – they created this amazing logo with antlers and our initials that was featured on our koozies and signage, and added that hint of masculinity that can be a little elusive to capture. And finally, we had Thanksgiving-themed dance floor props – Pilgrim hats and feather headdresses – that were really fun for guests towards the end of the night!
What was your favorite part of the planning?
Everything. By helping me prioritize, staying organized, and managing the minutiae, the Mariée Ami team really allowed me and my family to focus on the fun things and to enjoy the experience. We loved how available they were, and how responsive and patient they remained throughout the entire planning process. Additionally, it was really fun watching things come to life over the 13 month planning period – when you articulate a vague vision to a vendor and then see that come to life so beautifully? Nothing compares to that!
What was your most memorable part of the day?
There are so many moments it’s hard to choose. If I had to pick just one, I think it would be the moment(s) right after Zac and I were married and walked out of the church and onto our trolley to head to the reception. There was this instant sense of relief and joy for both of us – we were finally married, everything had gone according to plan, and now we could just relax and go dance with our friends and family! The photos that Caleb and the 509 Photo guys got perfectly capture our happiness, and that of our wedding party. We were relieved, excited, and ready to party, and you can tell!
